Getting Started
What is Mapfolio?
Mapfolio is a platform for exploring Swiss company data through interactive maps and powerful search tools. We provide access to official commercial registry data in an easy-to-use interface.
How do I create an account?
- Click "Sign Up" in the top right corner
- Enter your email address and create a password
- Verify your email address
- Start exploring Swiss companies!
Is Mapfolio free?
We offer both free and premium plans. The free plan includes basic search and map features. Premium plans unlock advanced features like API access, bulk exports, and detailed analytics.
Using the Map
How do I search for companies on the map?
- Navigate to the Map page
- Use the search bar to find companies by name
- Or use filters to browse by canton, industry, or legal form
- Click on map markers to view company details
Can I filter companies by location?
Yes! Use the canton selector to filter companies by specific Swiss cantons. You can also search by postal code or city name.
How do I zoom and navigate the map?
- Zoom: Use your mouse wheel or the +/- buttons
- Pan: Click and drag the map
- Reset: Click the home button to return to Switzerland view
Company Directory
How is the directory organized?
The Company Directory is organized by canton and alphabetically. Browse companies by their first letter or use the search function.
What information is available for each company?
Each company profile includes:
- Official company name
- Legal form (AG, GmbH, etc.)
- Canton and address
- Registration number
- Status (active/inactive)
- Link to official registry entry
How often is the data updated?
We update our database regularly from official Swiss commercial registries to ensure accuracy and currency.
API Access
How do I get API access?
API access is available with Premium plans. Once subscribed:
- Go to Settings > API Keys
- Generate a new API key
- Use the key in your API requests
- View documentation at /api-docs
What can I do with the API?
The API allows you to:
- Search for companies programmatically
- Retrieve company details
- Filter by location, industry, or legal form
- Integrate Swiss company data into your applications
Are there rate limits?
Yes, rate limits depend on your plan:
- Free: 100 requests/day
- Pro: 1,000 requests/day
- Enterprise: Custom limits
Account & Billing
How do I upgrade my plan?
- Go to Settings > Billing
- Choose your desired plan
- Enter payment information
- Confirm upgrade
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and SEPA direct debit for Swiss accounts.
Projects
What are Projects?
Projects help you organize your research. Save companies to projects, add notes, and share with team members.
How do I create a project?
- Go to Projects
- Click "New Project"
- Give it a name and description
- Start adding companies
Can I share projects with others?
Yes! Premium plans allow project sharing with team members. Set permissions for view-only or edit access.
Troubleshooting
The map isn't loading
Try these steps:
- Refresh your browser
- Clear your browser cache
- Check your internet connection
- Try a different browser
- Contact support if the issue persists
I can't find a company
If you can't find a specific company:
- Check the spelling of the company name
- Try searching by registration number
- The company may be inactive or dissolved
- Contact support for assistance
My search isn't working
- Ensure you're using correct search terms
- Try removing filters to broaden results
- Check that you're searching in the right canton
- Clear your browser cache and try again
